Suvoda, a Conshohocken, Pennsylvania-based clinical trial technology company, has expanded Greenphire Travel, its software and services for managing patient travel to clinical trial visits, the company announced on October 28, 2026. The update adds rideshare access through Lyft, Uber Health, and Bolt, along with new tools for trial sites and sponsors.
“Participants in clinical trials are often managing serious illness on top of the logistical demands of getting to visits. Greenphire Travel removes the coordination burden from sites and their patients so they can focus on what matters—their health and wellbeing,” said Elizabeth Smith, Director of Product Management, Patient Experience at Suvoda.
Why Travel Matters for Trials
Suvoda says travel is one of the biggest logistical barriers to enrolling and keeping patients in clinical trials. It points to a recent study by the Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP), in which 49% of participants who found their study disruptive cited travel to the study clinic as a cause.
Rideshare Access and One App
Depending on the region, participants and sites can now book eligible rides through Lyft, Uber Health, and Bolt. Participants book through the Suvoda App, which also shows their flights, hotels, ride status, study appointments, questionnaires, and payments. Suvoda says this cuts down on routine status questions that would otherwise go to site staff.
Sites get a simpler travel request process, a clearer view of trip status, and secure messaging. Sponsors and contract research organizations (CROs) get more detailed reporting on travel spending and policy across their trials.
“As clinical trial travel grows more complex, sponsors and sites need connected, actionable insight across the study,” said Will Wing, Director of Product at Suvoda. “This release brings real-time trip status, consolidated reporting, and clearer cost information together into one streamlined experience.”
Two Support Models
Sponsors can choose between two ways to deliver travel support. In the site-led option, study teams book straightforward travel requests themselves. In the Concierge model, coordinators provide personalized support for more complex studies and patient needs. Concierge coordinators are based in more than 40 countries and are available around the clock for the length of a trial.
“Sponsors can choose the level of service that fits each study or site rather than applying a single model across their entire portfolio,” Wing said. “For patients in oncology or rare disease especially, that difference can be significant.”
Sponsors fund eligible travel upfront, so patients, caregivers, and sites pay nothing out of pocket for covered services.
