A Research Triangle-based biologics and CDMO leader rejoins FUJIFILM to help clients turn biologic therapies into development and manufacturing programs.
Sean Stowe, Ph.D., has joined FUJIFILM Biotechnologies as Associate Director, Program Design, Biologics, starting in October 2026. Based in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area, Stowe returns to the company, then known as FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies, where he spent more than five years in Morrisville, North Carolina.
What He’ll Do in the Role
In his new role, Stowe will lead the design of integrated biologics development and manufacturing programs for biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients. He will partner with customers to translate their program objectives, technical requirements, and business priorities into tailored development and manufacturing strategies, providing guidance across process development, analytical development, technology transfer, GMP manufacturing, and clinical supply planning. He will also support proposal development, scope definition, and program planning, working with FUJIFILM’s technical, operational, quality, and commercial teams.
About Sean Stowe, Ph.D.
Stowe joins FUJIFILM Biotechnologies from IDBS, where he spent nearly three years, most recently as Principal Solutions Consultant. There he led the commercial engagement lifecycle for enterprise biopharma and CDMO accounts, from discovery workshops and solution design to proof-of-concept engagements and RFP responses. He previously served as Senior Solutions Consultant, building workflow solutions for laboratory and manufacturing data challenges across R&D, bioanalysis, process development, and cGMP manufacturing.
From 2018 to 2024, Stowe held a series of roles at FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies in Morrisville. Most recently, as Global Business Process Owner for the Process Development ELN system, he owned the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a scientific data platform across five international CDMO sites. Before that, as Associate Principal Scientist, he served as Global Technical Lead for the enterprise implementation of that platform and as Technical Program Lead for a late-phase client biopharmaceutical program. He joined the company as a Senior Scientist, serving as Analytical Technical Lead for multiple client programs.
Earlier in his career, Stowe was a Research Scientist at Grifols, leading method development and validation for plasma-derived biological APIs, and held scientist roles at Catalent Pharma Solutions in Morrisville, performing cGMP large-molecule characterization.
Stowe holds a Ph.D. in Functional Genomics–Biochemistry, with a minor in Bioinformatics, and a B.S. and B.A. in Biochemistry and Chemistry, from North Carolina State University.
